Cotswolds Towns and Villages

Naunton

This small picturesque village is built on the banks of the River Windrush. 

Though you won't find a large blossoming garden or a historic castle, Naunton is the ideal place to spend an afternoon if you want an authentic experience of life in the Cotswolds. 

Like most villages, the quaint cottages in Naunton are made of the world-famous honey-coloured Cotswolds stone, which carries an indescribable charm as it's hit by the setting sun.

Stow on the Wold

Perhaps the most well-known of all Cotswolds towns, Stow on the Wold is known for its abundance of antique shopping opportunities its biannual Gypsy Horse Fair, which is held every May and October. 

There also a fantastic range of authentic tea rooms with homemade cakes if you fancy stopping for a spot of afternoon tea.

Broadway

Broadway is home to the iconic Broadway Tower, a majestic monument which sits atop a dramatic hilltop, commanding views over the panoramic landscapes around. 

You may also want to pay the Crown & Trumpet a visit, an award-winning county inn with an impressive selection of local ales and fresh, homemade meals.

Cotswold Falconry Centre

Based in the small market town of Moreton in Marsh, The Cotswold Falconry Centre has dazzled- and educated- millions of visitors over the years about the ancient art of falconry. 

Today, they house over 130 birds of 60 different birds of prey species. Aside from daily flying displays, you can also learn about the conservation of birds of prey and why it's important that we keep these majestic predators in our skies.

Snowshill Manor & Gardens (National Trust)

At first glance, Snowshill Manor may appear the same as any other stately home, but once you've stepped inside, you will gain a thorough understanding of why it's often referred to “a cabinet of curiosities”. 

It's last owner, Charles Wade, was an eccentric man who bought manor with a single purpose: to house his collection of objects which interested him. 

There are rooms full of armour and another full of bicycles; each room has a theme and is filled with time-forgotten treasures waiting to be discovered.

Greystones Farm Nature Reserve

Greystones Farm is managed by the Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust, and it's regarded as one of the most important nature reserves in the country. 

Spanning over 66 hectares, you can find various species of birds, mammals, insects and more wildflowers than you can count. It's a wonderful way to get closer to nature and teach young children about why nature conservation is important.

Cotswold Motoring Museum

The Cotswold Motoring Museum is a fantastic day out for the whole family. Nestled in the characteristic village of Bourton-on-the-Water, it's home to 7 galleries which are packed with vintage and classic cars, motorbikes and caravans. 

The children will be glad to know that there is also a gallery dedicated classic motoring toys and memorabilia, and a thoughtful gift shop from which they can buy their own.
